Through the lens of Béatrice-Nicole Kouadio… One click. One photo. One portrait. This is photography — but not just any kind: it is image reporting (JRI). A profession that Béatrice-Nicole Nyom Kouadio has been practicing for more than a decade.
Yet, women naturally inclined toward photography are few and far between. But she already counts six Africa Cup of Nations (2008, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2017, 2019) and three FIFA World Cups (2010, 2014, 2018) to her name. Her travels with the Elephants football team are countless, taking her across African and European countries time and again.

For a long time, society developed under the belief that photography was neither a profession nor an art. Yet it is indeed an art that has been passed down to us, and I hope we will pass it on to future generations, with all the possible improvements.

Correspondent for several local and international media outlets. A woman with a man’s career path!
Béatrice-Nicole has “zoomed in” on many subjects, in no particular order. She has already shared some of her ideas by organizing exhibitions designed to promote photography, with a special focus on women.
For her, photography needs to be revisited. Because of the digital era, there are hardly any printed shots, portraits, or framed works left. Yet, she believes it is essential to immortalize moments. Recently, she brought women athletes out of their usual settings to showcase them in photo frames, transforming them into works of art and exhibiting them at INSAAC.
This was not her first project of such scale. She has previously paid tribute, through her images, to her father as well as to pioneering women of Cameroon. She is also the founder of African Network Sound and Images (ANSI), the first African network for sound and image professionals.
And yet, this Ivorian-Cameroonian artist could have become a doctor or a police commissioner, judging by her early career path. But the “virus” of photography “infected” her — and one could say she willingly succumbed to it.
I help businesses stand out with great photos.
